BEACON- defined as: a source of guidance or inspiration
What a fitting name for this city. During the Revolutionary War, signal fires were lit on the mountain to warn the troops of approaching enemy. So when Fishkill Landing and Matteawan decided to combine to form one city, they looked to the mountain for inspiration and named the city Beacon. We were born and raised in Beacon and we've grown up hiking it's beautiful mountain. It was a combination of our love of Mt. Beacon and the excitement of the revitalization of the city that has guided and inspired us to create Mountain Tops. Hopefully through this venture, we will be able to become more involved in community events and give back to the city, its mountain, its river and its people.
